We recommend either the Traditional Model or the Concert Model fife for almost all purposes, as these are the instruments that have the best possible intonation given the design limitations imposed by the nature of a fife (that is, no key system).  These models are created for those fifers who wish to portray various eras in history with a particular focus. For material and key information, see Basics.

18th Century Models
Traditional Bb Model
The visual design of our Traditional  Model fifes is patterned on museum pieces, and this simple shape with the swell at the mouth hole and a soft taper to the foot is appropriate for 18th and 19th century representations. See Traditional Bb Models.

Old Pitch Model
The Old Pitch Model fife is the Traditional Model fife pitched to match an instrument in collection at Colonial Williamsburg, and was originally designed so that the Fifes & Drums there could sound, as well as appear, authentic.  It is an interesting instrument with a great high register and is suitable for anyone who wishes to experience the time when pitch was not yet standardized, but it will not play well with other fifes (including other Cooperman fifes) and so should be chosen judiciously. Each fife is crafted of the finest intrument grade material, with ovaled embouchure hole and recessed finger holes, and packaged in a wooden slider top box with a cleaning rod.
ROSEWOOD OLD PITCH FIFE $105.00
GRENADILLA OLDPITCH FIFE $130.00

18th C French D Model
Our fife is based on 18th century European resources, and is most suitable for those representing that area and time period.  Much like the Old Pitch fife, these fifes were made at a time when pitch was not standardized, and so this is not the equivalent of a modern “Folk D” (“Concert C”) instrument, as the name may lead you to believe. Each fife is crafted of the finest intrument grade grenadilla, with ovaled embouchure hole and recessed finger holes, and packaged in a wooden slider top box with a cleaning rod.
GRENADILLA 18TH C. FRENCH D FIFE $130.00

19th Century Styles
Veteran Fifer Model
This fife is patterned on antiques in our collection, notably Hall and Firth Pond fifes, and shares a bore style with these and the Cloos fifes of the Civil War era, as well as the Gerrary fifes of the mid-20th century.  See Veteran Fifer Model.
ROSEWOOD VETERAN FIFER MODEL $105.00
GRENADILLA VETERAN FIFER MODEL $130.00

Traditional Bb Model
The visual design of our Traditional  Model fifes is patterned on museum pieces, and this simple shape with the swell at the mouth hole and a soft taper to the foot is appropriate for 18th and 19th century representations. See Traditional Bb Models.
ROSEWOOD STONY CREEK MODEL $105.00
GRENADILLA STONY CREEK MODEL $130.00
