| Our handcrafted bodhrans are inspired
by the traditional Celtic instrument, while they provide significant
enhancements in material, design, and sound.
Our Original Cooperman series bodhrans are available in both tuneable
and non-tunable models. 18" or 22" diameter is standard,
although a full range from 14"through 24" is available.
Traditional crossbars, a single removable crossbar, or no bars are
an option.

The 4" deep shell is made of 3/8"
steam bent, scarf jointed solid oak. The edge of the natural
heavy weight goatskin head is secured into an exterior groove
with a brass-tacked wood flesh hoop, in a self-locking system
we introduced to minimize the tendency of the head to pull
away from the shell. A reinforcement liner strengthens this
groove and the 45-degree beveled bearing edge. A hand-rubbed
natural finish accentuates the inherent grain of the oak shell.

Our tunable drum adds a simple, effective tuning technology
to the strong design features of our traditional bodhrans.
The tension on the head is adjusted by the action of an internal,
light weight moveable bearing member. With no clumsy hardware
added to the exterior of the shell, the traditional appearance
of the instrument is preserved and the player maintains a
complete range of motion. A T-grip Allen wrench and instructions
are included.

We created our deep shell bodhran in response to the evolving
playing styles of today’s most progressive percussionists.
An exceptionally deep, solid, single ply shell, a finely finished
calfskin head, and a steep bearing edge, work together to
produce a warm deep tone with a wide range of flexibility.
Excellent for mic’ing and recording, the controlled
overtones and full range of this drum, from crisp high notes
to punchy bass tones, bring this instrument into the mix without
being abrasive. The drum can be customized in a variety of
ways upon request; custom orders may be differently priced.

- 16” diameter by 6 ½”
deep solid shell with steep precision bearing edge.
- The edge of the head is secured into an
exterior groove, which is then covered with a colored knit
cord. We designed this self-locking system to minimize the
tendency the head to pull away from the shell.
- This model is available with concert-grade
calfskin head, goatskin, or REMO synthetic head. The head
may be taped to enhance overtone control.
- Our patented internal tuning technology
preserves the traditional appearance of the instrument and
allows the player to maintain a complete range of motion,
unencumbered by external hardware. Tension on the head is
adjusted by the action of an internal, lightweight, moveable
bearing member. A T-handle Allen wrench and tuning instructions
are included.
- Our arm cut-out, an arch design, with
softly rolled edges, allows for comfortable access to the
underside of the head; there is no crosspiece handle.
- A hand-rubbed, natural finish accentuated
the beauty of the wood.
- A soft padded carrying bag is included.

Our Glen Velez Series also features a new bodhran model.
A celebrated international soloist and principal figure
in the art of the frame drum, Grammy award-winning percussionist
Glen Velez has created his own vocabulary and compositional
style. Inspired by his far reaching study of traditional
drumming techniques from cultures around the world,
the Velez bodhran combines the enhanced features of
