This unique fusion instrument was developed through
our work with Jamey Haddad. It combines the essential
features of the traditional South Indian kanjira (a
small diameter frame with a single set of jingles played
primarily with the right hand, the left hand used for
pitch blending) with three additional jingle slots:
two positioned to accommodate riq jingles, the third
to accommodate a shaker jingle. The drum is tunable
and the jingle-pins are made accessible to allow any
combination of the jingles to be used.
