Our Egyptian Style Riq features the traditional jingle arrangement of 5 double-row, evenly spaced sets. The head is tightly mounted to create the riq's distinctive high pitched sound. We've incorporated the patented Cooperman internal tuning system to maintain top performance under all conditions, as well as our removable jingle pin system to allow for alternative combination of jingles.

Three substantive modifications have been added to our Egyptian Style Riq to create our new Artists Series Riq- a superbly balanced drum with design features that contribute to the player’s control of jingle response:

• Larger diameter (9 1/8th inch versus 8 3/8s inches)

The larger diameter enhances rich doum/drum sonority

• Shallower depth (2 3/8ths versus 2 5/8ths inches)

The shallower depth facilitates player grip, jingle access, and jingle control

• Aluminum bearing/tuning edge on wood body

The aluminum member strengthens bright, articulated tak drum sounds and forward-balances the instrument

• An optional set of hand hammered jingles may be specified (at additional cost) when a more shimmering jingle effect is preferred, or where emphasis on the percussive drum effect is desired (as when played in the “cabaret” or “soft” position)
